A Pilgrimage Every LEGO Fan Should Make – The LEGO Store, New York 🗽

If you’re a LEGO fan and find yourself in New York City, there’s one place that simply has to be on your itinerary – the LEGO Store at Rockefeller Center.

After arriving in New York from our transatlantic crossing on Queen Mary 2, it didn’t take long before we found ourselves standing outside those famous glass doors. Even before stepping inside, there was that familiar feeling of excitement that every LEGO enthusiast knows all too well.

Walking through the store is an experience in itself. Everywhere you look there are incredible brick-built displays, exclusive sets and plenty of opportunities to stop and admire the creativity that LEGO inspires. It isn’t just a shop – it’s a celebration of imagination.

Of course, I couldn’t leave empty-handed.

But this visit wasn’t about BRIKT.

For once, I decided to treat myself.

Anyone who knows me knows that I usually buy LEGO with everyone else in mind. Whether it’s for BRIKT events, fundraising, or creating new experiences for others, my own collection often comes second.

This time was different.

I chose a LEGO set especially for me, with one purpose in mind – to build it during our return voyage across the Atlantic aboard Queen Mary 2.

There is something wonderfully fitting about combining two of my favourite things: being at sea and building LEGO.

Life on board a Cunard crossing has a slower pace. Days aren’t filled with rushing from one place to another. Instead, you have time to sit back, enjoy the ocean views, and simply be present in the moment. It feels like the perfect setting to open a fresh LEGO box, spread the pieces across the table and lose yourself in the build while the ship gently carries you home.

LEGO has always been more than just a toy for me.

It’s a chance to slow down.

To focus.

To relax.

To forget everything else for a little while.

That feeling is exactly what inspired me to create BRIKT in the first place.

As I left the New York LEGO Store carrying my yellow bags, I realised I’d brought home far more than just a new set and some goodies.

I’d brought home excitement for the journey ahead.

A reminder that sometimes it’s okay to buy something just for yourself.

And another memory that will forever connect New York, Queen Mary 2 and the simple joy of opening a brand-new box of LEGO in the middle of the Atlantic.

Sometimes, happiness really does come one brick at a time.
